You purchased a ‘fancy camera’ so you could take better photos. Turned on auto mode, snapped your first photo, and… it didn’t look any different than the photos you take with your phone.  Sound familiar?

Because that’s EXACTLY what I did. I was SO disappointed.  My DSLR photos didn’t look anything like what I expected.  It was immediately clear that I would need to invest in some education on how to USE my camera before I’d be able to create the images I’d envisioned.

This self-led course is for you if:

  • You own a DSLR but it's always on Auto Mode.
  • You love portraits with blurry backgrounds but have no idea how to get them.
  • You struggle with using light in a way that flatters your subjects.
  • You're tired of your kids flashing cheesy smiles and want to document genuine moments.

This course is NOT for you if:

  • You don't own a DSLR camera.
  • You're already comfortable shooting in manual mode on your DSLR.
  • You're SO happy with the photos you're taking of your kids.

Hi, I'm Casey, aka Miss Freddy

When I was born, I had an unfortunate resemblance to Fred Flintstone and the nickname stuck (even though I don’t think I look like a caveman anymore!).  I am a modern photographer for fun-loving families and I've been photographing kids professionally for 8 years.

As I've met more & more clients, I’ve seen that moms really want to know how THEY can take BETTER photos of their children and family.  I’ve learned a few tricks in my years of photographing children (and dealing with two little ones of my own!) and so... this course was born!

This course will cover:

Lesson One: Introduction
A little about me & my background.  Plus, what to expect from this course.

Lesson Two: Equipment
Common photography equipment terms (ie: how to decide which lens to buy next).

Lesson Three: Understanding Exposure- ISO
What is ISO?  How do you use it to properly light your photos?

Lesson Four: Understanding Exposure - Shutter Speed
What is Shutter Speed?  How do you use it to control motion?

Lesson Five: Understanding Exposure - Aperture
What is Aperture?  How do you use it to create beautiful blurry backgrounds?

Lesson Six: Shooting in Manual Mode
Putting the exposure lessons into practice.

Lesson Seven: White Balance
How to eliminate those wonky color casts through various camera settings.

Lesson Eight: Focusing
Tricks and settings to use that will help you get tack sharp images.

Lesson Nine: Lighting
How to use directional light to flatter your subjects and create beautiful art.

Lesson Ten: Composition
The "rules" of composition that will help you take your images from good to great.

Lesson Eleven:  Connection
How to make your subjects comfortable and document emotion and candid images.

Lesson Twelve: Photographing Kids
My personal secrets/tricks for getting kids to cooperate and relax in front of the camera... leading to genuine smiles!

Lesson 13: Three Biggest Takeaways
The End!  But, first, let's recap the most important things I want you to take away from this course.
